Why Dr. Ural's Ayurveda Treatment is Essential in Varicose Veins Management

Dr Urals·14 Sept 2026·2 min

Most patients think varicose veins treatment = Laser or Surgery. But in reality, 70% of patients in Karnataka are in 3rd or 4th stage where laser has limitations. This is where Dr. M.V. Ural's Ayurveda treatment becomes not an alternative, but an essential treatment.

1. It Only Closes the Vein, It Doesn't Correct Circulation

Modern treatments like EVLT Laser, RFA, Sclerotherapy, or Stripping Surgery work on one principle: Destroy or block the faulty vein so blood finds another route.

But the real problem is Venous Hypertension - high pressure in the leg veins due to weak valves, calf muscle pump failure, and poor lifestyle.

Just closing one vein does not reduce the overall pressure in the leg. So, blood finds another superficial vein and makes it varicose. This is why recurrence after laser is 15% to 40% within 5 years as per many vascular studies.

2. No Treatment for Skin Damage and Ulcers

In 4th stage (C4-C6), the main problem is not the vein, it's Lipodermatosclerosis - skin becomes hard, black, and forms non-healing ulcers.

Laser cannot be fired on hard, infected skin. Sclerotherapy cannot heal an ulcer. Surgery has high failure rate on ulcerated legs. Modern science has no medicine to reverse skin induration. It only gives compression stockings and wound dressing for life.

This is why doctors say "this is untreatable" in last stage.

3. High Recurrence and Complications

Modern procedures have documented risks:

• Nerve injury, numbness, burning sensation after laser/RFA

• Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) after ablation

• Pigmentation and burns after sclerotherapy

• Ulcer does not heal even after successful vein closure

And even after spending Rs. 80,000 to 2 lakhs, the patient is told to wear stockings for lifetime, which means the disease is being managed, not cured.

4. Ignores the Root Cause - Vata and Lifestyle

Ayurveda says varicose veins is Siraja Granthi - caused by aggravated Vata, long standing, constipation, overweight, poor digestion.

Modern science has no preventive medicine. It does not correct:

• Chronic constipation which increases abdominal pressure

• Weak calf muscles

• Obesity

• Job-related long standing

It waits until the vein is completely damaged and then cuts it.

5. Not Suitable for Everyone

Laser and surgery is not safe for:

• Elderly patients above 70

• Diabetic patients with non-healing ulcers

• Patients with heart disease on blood thinners

• Patients who already had surgery and got recurrence

For them, modern science has very limited options.

What a Complete Treatment Should Be?

A complete treatment should be one that:

1. Reduces venous pressure from inside

2. Heals skin induration and ulcers from outside

3. Strengthens vein valves so disease doesn't return

4. Corrects lifestyle so recurrence is low

5. Is safe for all age groups without cutting the body

This is where Ayurveda completes the gap. It uses Rakta Shodhana (blood purification), Sira Shothahara (reducing vein inflammation), and Vrana Ropana (ulcer healing) to address all 5 points.

Modern science is excellent at removing the damaged vein, but Ayurveda is needed to heal the leg that damaged the vein.
